Peter Hiddema

Peter HiddemaPeter Hiddema is a consultant in the field of negotiation, communication, and conflict management. He has worked in a wide variety of settings in various parts of the world in both private and public sectors. Mr. Hiddema trains and advises clients on negotiation strategy and joint problem solving, and has also facilitated negotiations and mediated labor disputes. In the private sector, he has worked at senior levels with a number of Fortune 500 global companies primarily in financial & professional services, technology & telecom, health care, transportation and manufacturing. His focus is on improving executives’ effectiveness in negotiation and relationship management through training, consulting, and one-on-one coaching. In the public sector, Mr. Hiddema has worked with regional bodies in the US, with the federal government and First Nations communities in Canada, with the World Health Organization in Geneva and Africa.

Before entering his current field of work, Mr. Hiddema worked in the financial services sector. He was employed by the Royal Bank of Canada in London, England, and Toronto, Canada. In London he handled inter-bank relations with financial institutions in several European countries, and in Toronto he managed the bank’s relationships with a diverse group of medium-sized corporate clients. Prior to this, he worked as an Investment Advisor in the Greater Toronto Area. Mr. Hiddema has also been a lecturer in International Business at the UK arm of Queen’s University (Canada). In addition to his native English, Mr. Hiddema speaks French, Spanish, and Frisian. A travel aficionado, he has voyaged through over 50 countries and lived in five countries on three continents. He holds an MBA from Queen’s University and an Honors Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University.
